Elements of Competency Performance Criteria
Element: Establish requirements for heat exchanger design
  • Obtain and implement work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements for the work area
  • Determine scope of the design from design brief, reports and in consultation with appropriate personnel
  • Determine and interpret relevant standards, codes or regulations applicable to the design
  • Consult appropriate personnel to ensure that work is coordinated effectively with others
  • Obtain equipment and resources needed for the task in accordance with organisational procedures

Element: Determine specifications for heat exchanger design
  • Obtain parameters and performance requirements in relation to refrigeration system
  • Model design solutions based on developed heat exchanger specifications to determine the most effective solution
  • Establish final selection on heat exchanger design in consultation with appropriate personnel
  • Provide solutions to unplanned situations consistent with organisational procedures

Element: Document heat exchanger design
  • Document design, including all details of findings, calculations and assumptions in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Notify appropriate personnel about the completion of the design task

Submission Requirements

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
